Arrive in Moshi and transfer to your hotel for a pre-trek briefing with your guides. Prepare for the adventure and rest before starting the journey.
Depart from Moshi and drive to the Rongai Gate. Begin the trek through lush forests and spot wildlife along the way. The trail gradually ascends to Simba Camp, where you’ll spend your first night under the stars.
The trail leads out of the forest and into the open moorlands. You’ll be treated to panoramic views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields of Kilimanjaro. After several hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Second Cave Camp for rest and acclimatization.
Continue trekking across the moorland as the path becomes steeper and more challenging. You’ll enjoy fantastic views of the wilderness before reaching Kikelewa Camp, which is nestled in a valley near giant senecio plants.
A short but steep climb takes you to Mawenzi Tarn, situated beneath the majestic Mawenzi Peak. This camp is a great spot for acclimatization as you rest and prepare for the final stages of the climb.
Today, you’ll cross the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Arrive at Kibo Hut, the base camp for your summit attempt. Rest and gather your strength for the early morning push to the summit.
Start your summit attempt around midnight, trekking up steep scree slopes towards Gilman’s Point. From there, continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
